Jump Charity Raises More Than $15,000 for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles

Despite the triple digit temperatures, families and community members happily came out to watch riders of all ages walk, trot, canter and JUMP to raise awareness and funds for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles on Sunday, September 15th.

Attendees enjoyed pony rides, face painting, horse shoe decorating and bracelet making with all proceeds going to CHLA. An auction featuring original art created by young artists from San Pascual Stables was a big success and added to the day’s total.

Kate Stilwill, Associate Director for Major Gifts at CHLA was present to recognize the dozen young riders who each set individual fundraising goals of $1,000.00 and as a team raised more than $10,000.00 collectively!

Director of the riding programs at San Pascual Stables, Caroline Sterckx, remarked that the show “exceeded everyone’s expectations” and was “grateful that the riders, horses and guests had a safe, fun day” but thinks that next year’s show might be scheduled later in the fall in hopes of cooler weather!

Mayor Richard Schneider and City Councilman, Philip Putnam were in attendance as were two of San Pascual Stables’ owners, Linda and Alex Bellehumeur. Laguna Beach’s Brussels Bistro led guests into the Arroyo with the enticing smell of fresh Belgian Waffles. Lunch was provided by California Skewers and guests were kept cool with icy snow cones! Other local businesses who made donations included:

Heirloom Bakery & Cafe, San Marino Seafood Restaurant & Market, Continental Colorcraft, Figueroa Design Studio, Trish Reda Photography and WineBee.
